Support Group For Spiritual Awakenings

Everyone Should Have Their Own Little Community for Spiritual Support.

A spiritual awakening is having an experience that leads to a profound shift in an person's perception of the world and their place in it. It is often described as a moment of clarity, where one's understanding of themselves and their purpose in life is dramatically transformed. Spiritual awakenings can come in many forms, from a sudden realization of a new truth, to a gradual shift in one's beliefs and values. While some are triggered by a traumatic experience, they are more often associated with a sense of inner peace and connection to something greater than oneself, whether that be a higher power, the universe, or simply a deeper understanding of the true self and the interconnectedness of all things.

It's a journey that not everyone around you may understand or support. It can feel like you're stepping away from your life as you know it and in some cases even the people in your life. In my case I have been so lucky to have a very supportive husband who, even though he may be a little nervous of ALL the changes happening, is truly my best friend and will always support anything that makes me happy. My 2 teenage boys and my sister also take all my new “crazy” pretty well, but that’s about it. And, even though they are accepting of the “new me” I still have no one in my life that thinks, feels or believes as I do now.

With pretty much everyone else in my life I feel like I am basically hiding who I am and what I believe. I am censoring my responses and opinions like I am ashamed or doing something wrong. This is all just because I don’t want to make waves, cause debates or make anyone worry that I’m “losing it”. I know I shouldn’t care what people think but these are my family and friends that I love, and love to spend time with, they just have much different points of view than me now. Some are very hard-core religious and others are very scientific and factual ...just like I used to be! Sometimes I even feel like, “well it’s not their fault that I went and changed so much!! So why should I burden them with it?!”

Also, living in a tiny town in the county leaves very few opportunities for crossing paths with kindred spirits. We do have a little yoga studio in town which is great, but again they only offer the physical practice of Asanas. I found a couple places in some near by towns that offer Reiki and other spiritual and natural health services. One of those has become my place for Reiki, SRT and all my woo-woo stuff ..oh ya, and where I am training for Reiki too! It’s wonderful to be able to talk openly and ask questions when I am there however, it’s not like I can afford to do that all the time. Typically it’s only about once a month.

The internet and websites / blogs like this one allow connections when it is hard to find them in your current life and surroundings. It becomes our support group for spiritual awakenings, ...S.A. Anonymous ...Hello my name is _______  and I am awakening to entirely new belief system and perception of life as I know it!

I have a dream to create something like this here in my small town. A center for holistic health and spirituality but not based on just offering services for money. I would like it to be where people can just come and be with others who understand them. I want to have meetings, and workshops, coffee, tea and books, handmade items from the community and a services board for people to connect. It may be just a dream as I’m not sure my small town and surrounding areas can support it or even if I could ever financially support it, but how amazing would that be?!

Whether it’s a teacher, mentor, a local community or just online resources and forums, everyone should have some form of guidance through this huge “shift” in life. By connecting with others who are currently going through or have gone through a spiritual awakening, you can find comfort in knowing that your experiences are valid and that there is a whole community of like-minded individuals who can support you. While this process can be challenging, it is also a transformative and life-affirming experience that can lead to new, and/or solidify existing relationships.

Ultimately, I guess we just need to remember, and remind each other, that a spiritual awakening is a true blessing and a positive, life-changing experience. I sometimes even feel sad for those that have never experienced this type of awareness as there is such a sense of peace that comes with it. While it can be lonely at times, it is also a wonderful opportunity for learning, growth, exploration and discovery. In the end, we all just need to Embrace our Journey and trust in the process, knowing that you are never alone and exactly where you need to be.
